iWay Software, an Information Builders company and innovator of enterprise integration solutions, recently announced that Sabre Airline Solutions, a world leader in the travel marketplace, has successfully completed a series of audits to evaluate, monitor, and manage data quality in its Airport Data Intelligence database using iWay Software's Data Quality Center (DQC). The new integration software will automate Sabre's data quality efforts and deliver greater accuracy and convenience to customers.
As part of its Airport Data Intelligence service, Sabre tracks the capacity of every plane, airline, and fleet in the world, acquiring millions of rows of passenger information every month and loading it into its proprietary database. Occasionally, there are discrepancies in the origin and destination (O&D) data Sabre receives from the airlines, including incorrect airport codes, missing revenue figures, and inconsistent flight capacity numbers. To resolve these discrepancies, Sabre purchased iWay Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Suite, including iWay Service Manager, Data Profiler, and DQC.
"iWay allows us to take a proactive approach to data quality," said Darren Rickey, vice president of solutions management, AirVision Marketing and Planning, Sabre. "The objective is to identify and correct discrepancies as the data is loaded, so it has been scrubbed, audited, and certified as accurate."
Sabre worked with Information Builders' Professional Services to create a series of audits for cleansing data and detecting anomalies within the Airport Data Intelligence database. At the end of the six-week engagement, the team had created 20 audits to automatically inspect 95 percent of the data that is loaded on a monthly basis. iWay DQC now serves as a centralized management hub for business rules, data quality, and data flows. The Sabre team continues to devise new audits and business rules to isolate common issues.
"iWay Data Quality Center can cleanse many months of data in a fraction of the time of manually issuing SQL queries," said Rickey. "One analysis that formerly took 10 hours was completed by iWay in one minute. iWay is smart enough and flexible enough to either 'find and fix' or 'find and alert' us to issues and it can self-correct problems so it doesn't hold up a load procedure."
